Principle of main relief valve
The main relief valve is a type of safety valve that regulates the pressure in a hydraulic system. The principle of operation is simple: when the pressure in the system exceeds a predetermined value, the valve opens, allowing excess fluid to flow out of the system and back to the reservoir. This prevents damage to the system components and ensures safe operation.
The main relief valve typically consists of a valve body, a spring, and a diaphragm or poppet. The spring provides a pre-set force that holds the valve closed until the pressure in the system exceeds a certain level. When this happens, the force of the fluid acting on the diaphragm or poppet overcomes the spring force, and the valve opens.
Once the valve has opened, any excess fluid flows out of the system and back to the reservoir. As the pressure in the system falls below the set value, the force of the spring overcomes the hydraulic force, and the valve closes again.
